Hi many carpet cleaners will tell you that having a powerful Van mounted machine will give you better results. this is not true many factors are at play. This video just shows one view point. and proves that van mounted carpet cleaning is not the last word in carpet cleaning

BTW we dont use the methods above, bonnet cleaning or truck mounted carpet cleaning. we use hot water extraction, (steam cleaning)

The Risks In Steam Cleaning Carpets

  • The guys above is showing other carpet cleaners how hot his machine can get. now heat and really high heat does have a place in cleaning, but these big carpet cleaning machine where designed to heat up the water really hot so that the carpet cleaner can have a long run of hose.

Think about it, the longer the hose run the quicker the heat gets lost. now the first problem I can see is that many carpet cleaners that clean carpet in homes will not have long hose runs, and they have no way of telling how hot the water is at the end that's cleaning the carpet.

The second risk in my view is that these big machine where designed in the USA where most carpets have "man made " fibers now in the UK we have mostly wool and wool mix. I ask you would you wash a pure wool jumper in water that was at the temperature shown in the video without damaging it?

We all know how wool feels when its been in a hot wash by mistake.

Just to give both side of the story many carpet cleaners that use these big machine do so responsibly. but as anyone can set up in carpet cleaning and just buy a powerful machine like this its a fact that damage is being done every day to carpets in the UK.

One last thing on some carpets high heat can make the carpet ripple.

These facts are my own views based on what I read and hear as a professional carpet cleaner on the Internet and on courses that I attend.
